Explanation of the TAM classroom
TAM stands for Team Approach to Mastery. What this means is that there are 2 full time teachers in the classroom with your child everyday. There are regular education students as well as students with special needs in this class. All students benefit from two teachers working together as a team to promote academic success. We group students in many different ways throughout the day as well as throughout the year to meet all of their needs. Sometimes students with similar abilities are grouped together for activities and sometimes students of differing abilities are grouped together for other activities. Our class has the same number of students as the other 4th grade classrooms, but since there are two of us teaching, it’s more like 12 students to one teacher!
We have worked together on and off in the past as a team. We really enjoy the TAM setting and the benefits it provides to all students. We look forward to a great year in room 12 with your children!
